Cecina has always been considered a holiday resort for relaxing holidays by the sea and beyond.

Discover Cecina and Locations:

On the neighboring hills, there are small, very characteristic medieval villages, from which you can admire a fascinating panorama of the sea and the Tuscan countryside. Examples are Guardistallo, Casale Marittimo and Castagneto Carducci; the latter is the mother city of the famous poet Giosuè Carducci, who describes in one of his works the "Avenue of Cypresses" which leads straight to Bolgheri.

Bolgheri, just 12 km from Cecina, is famous not only for its historical-landscape characteristics, but also for the famous red wines produced by the renowned companies of the "Wine Route" exporting all over the world; above all “Michele Satta” which offers the possibility of guided tours of the cellar and tastings.

Livorno is one of the most important commercial and tourist ports, just 30 km north of Cecina. Before entering, you pass through "Il Romito", a stretch of cliff coast overlooking the sea, recommended for its breathtaking views and transparent water. Immediately afterwards are the Aquarium and the "Mascagni Terrace".

Immersed in the Tuscan hills, just 30 km away, is the historic city of Volterra, famous for the extraction of alabaster, for its beautiful ancient center of Etruscan origin and for the ruins of the magnificently preserved Roman Theatre.

Siena is a city universally known for its artistic and landscape heritage. In fact, the historic center, easily accessible on foot, is full of monuments and churches; and in its "Piazza del Campo", during the summer period, the "Palio di Siena" takes place, a horse racing competition between the Sienese Contrade.

The villages of San Gimignano and Certaldo are also a tourist destination and, nestled within their medieval walls, have a historical and architectural imprint dating back to the Etruscan and Roman eras.

An obligatory stop for Tuscan holidays is "Piazza dei Miracoli", where you can admire the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and the Cathedral. Very renowned is the "Luminara" of San Ranieri, the feast of the Patron Saint, which in mid-June every year, evocatively illuminates the LungArno Mediceo, making the city magical.

Another Tuscan site with a fascinating historical center is Lucca: an ancient Roman city, founded by merchants and weavers, famous for its monuments and for the still intact sixteenth-century city walls.

Florence, a World Heritage Site since 1982, symbol of cultural and scientific rebirth, is recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in the world, both for the high concentration of works of art, monuments and museums, and for having given birth to illustrious figures who have marked the history of the Bel Paese. Convenient to reach by train or car, it is 75 km away from Cecina.
